American Legion Post 13 in Albuquerque, N.M., will host a free student veterans resource fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15.

The fair will include local employers, government and non-profit organizations that provide resources and benefits to student veterans through scholarships, internships, apprenticeships or on-the-job training. This inaugural event will include three sessions where subject matter experts conduct specific and panel presentations, according to Chris Zafra, state veterans coordinator for New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

The 75th anniversary of the GI Bill will also be highlighted during the event.

A veteran’s family must request a United States flag.

A flag is provided at no cost to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran. Generally, the flag is given to the next of kin. Only one flag may be provided per veteran. Upon the request of the family, an “Application for United States Flag for Burial Purposes” (VA Form 21-2008) must be submitted along with a copy of the veteran’s discharge papers. Flags may be obtained from VA regional offices and most U.S. Post Offices.
